Los Ligy mistrů 2026/27: Sparta v předkole proti Lyonu

Sparta Prague ready to face Lyon in first leg of UEFA Champions League < CONTENT> Ligue 1 runner-up Lyon set to take on Prague-based Sparta in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie for the UEFA Champions League. The Czech team, which won its round-robin playoff against three teams from outside Europe’s top tier (including Norwegian champion Bodø/Glimt), will need a good performance at home if they wish to avoid automatic elimination and enter the final stage.

Sparta secured their entry into the group phase after narrowly beating a Norwegian club in the playoffs. While their opponents’ strength was increased by recent additions of high-profile player Endrick, Sparta is expected to take advantage of its compact playing style in a battle that could produce an exciting match. The team also boasts the presence of veteran midfielder Pavel Šulc, who may be tempted to leave the struggling club.

One potential complication for Sparta comes in the form of winger Adam Karabec, who spent last season on loan with Lyon before returning to his hometown side. According to head coach Brian Priske, Karabec will play in this match against Lyon and sees a high level of quality from their opponents: “The biggest team I’ve faced now.”
