LA PRESS CLUB Honors William Shatner 2026 Legend Award for Career Achievement and Contributions to Society, the organization announced Thursday. Actor William Shatner will receive the Los Angeles Press Club’s 2026 Legend Award for Career Achievement and Contributions to Society, the organization announced Thursday. The award will be presented Dec. 6 during the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards Gala at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. “Shatner is one of the most recognizable people in the world,” Los Angeles Press Club President Danny Bakewell Jr. said. “He is in a towering category all his own.” The Legend Award honors a member of the entertainment industry for contributions to the industry and society.
Shatner is best known for portraying Capt. James T. Kirk in the original “Star Trek” television series and seven feature films. His other television credits include “T.J. Hooker,” “Rescue 911,” “The Practice” and “Boston Legal.” He is also the author or co-author of numerous fiction and nonfiction books, including the “TekWar” series and memoirs about his life, career and years with “Star Trek.” Shatner, 95, has also worked as a director, producer and recording artist during a career spanning more than 70 years. He supports charitable causes and participates in equestrian sports.
Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile, actress Pam Grier and radio host Madeleine Brand will also be honored at the gala. The event is a fundraiser for the Los Angeles Press Club, which established the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards in 2008 to recognize arts and entertainment journalism.
